DPhil Student in Public Policy

Research and Policy Associate, Government Outcomes Lab

Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford

I am a DPhil (PhD) student in Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. I am also a Research and Policy Associate at the Government Outcomes Lab, a research and policy centre within the School.

My DPhil research focuses on the governance of complex public tasks which are delegated through contracts to private actors. My research interests include the role of public interest and public values in privatisation and outsourcing decisions, the benefits and challenges of "formal relational contracting" in the public sector, and the interplay between trust and public accountability.

Alongside this research, I also co-convene the Formal Relational Government Contracting Roundtable (FoReGRound), a group of academics, practitioners and policymakers interested in understanding the potential and challenges to a formal relational contracting approach in the public sector. I organised the inaugural session in Oxford (September 2023) along with colleagues Dr Felix-Anslem van Lier and Dr Eleanor Carter, and support ongoing communication around future meetings of the group. In my role at the GO Lab, I edit the Oxford Government Outcomes Blog.
